The Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center is the main facility within Dallas that provides care for a wide range of needs for juveniles who are involved in the social services or juvenile court system. On the campus is the Dr Jerome McNeil Jr Detention Center that houses youth who are arrested and require detention for a short period of time until their detention hearing, or up to 10 days for their second hearing, the Dallas County Post Adjudication Programs, and the Marzelle C Hill Transition Center which provides transitional housing for those who do not require a secure facili8ty or who are waiting for a home assessment, who are being transferred to residential center, or who are have special needs. Each offers programs that are specific to the needs of the youth that they are housing, has visiting hours specific to their facility, and offer meals, supervision, education, medical care, dental care, and recreational opportunities. Each focus on providing the services that are the best fit for the needs of the individuals within their care and allow for them to grow and develop tools to create a successful and positive future. Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center standards will be disposed of. 
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
