Dallas County Letot Center Information

Within the Dallas County Letot Center there are 3 sections, the Letot Intake, the Letot Shelter, and the Letot ASAP. The Intake unit processes each of the youth who enter the center and is the first part of the facility they will see. The focus remains on runaways and crisis intervention, providing immediate support for the most vulnerable juveniles in the community. It is a short term or temporary solution and is not designed to provide long term care. Youth are released to their parents with a treatment plan and assistance in setting up further support, as the staff work with the family to find a mutual resolution. The Shelter is an emergency shelter that is open around the clock and accepts youth who are in crisis. Spaces are available for up to 10 boys and 24 girls, offering academic support, case management, and clinical services. For girls who have been exploited through trafficking or other, are provided with one of the 8 spaces in the Assessment, Stabilization, and Advancement Program for Trafficked Youth. Immediately upon arrival they are provided with food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and other needs after which they will be assessed. Therapy is provided, and they will be connected with community programs before they are released to ensure they have the support they need after they leave the facility. Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Dallas County Letot Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Dallas County Letot Center standards will be disposed of.
