Postcards & Letters
The Baytown Municipal Jail allows inmates to receive letters and postcards.
Your letter should be handwritten. Computer printed letters might be rejected as photocopied images.
Postcards can be purchased already stamped (Pre-metered) or you can send those that you put stamps on. (Stamps are removed before the inmate receives the postcard or letter).
Both letters and postcards are rejected by staff if altered in any way including: lipstick marks, perfumed, stickers or glue.
Rejected mail is thrown away and the inmate will not receive it.

Books
Softcover books can be sent to inmates as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher or approved online vendor such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble. There is a limit of four books in an inmate’s possession at any given time.
Books must NOT contain images or content considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Baytown Municipal Jail standards will be disposed of.
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
