As part of the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department, the juvenile detention center is one of the locations used to house juveniles who are between the ages of 10 and 17. Within the probation department there are three facilities that house juveniles in secure environments, each intended to mee the needs of safety and security for the youth, the staff, and the community, while providing all basic needs and the programming needed to rehabilitate and reduce recidivism. Upon arrival at the facility the youth will have a detention hearing within 48 business hours to determine if they will be released, will require bond, or if they will be held until their hearing. If any medical or dental needs are discovered during the intake process there will be care provided, and the will receive any necessary mental health treatment during their stay. In partnership with the local school division there will be teachers who attend the site to provide their educational needs through regular schoolwork that counts for credits at their regular school. Phone: Incoming phone calls for residents are not accepted, they are able to make outgoing calls during approved days and times only. Visitation: All visits must be scheduled in advance by contacting staff at 713-222-4100. Each will be scheduled during the following visiting hours. Monday-Friday, 3:15pm-4:45pm and 6:00pm-7:30pm. Saturday-Sunday, 9:00am-10:45am & 12:00pm-4:15pm. County Holidays, 9:00am-10:45am & 12:00pm-4:15pm
