Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall Information

Juveniles who are arrested or who have broken their probation will be taken to the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall where they will be processed and either held until their first court appearance or released to their parents. Those who remain in custody will have an assessment completed to determine what services and programs will best suit them and provide them with the best results, as well as a medical assessment, mental health check in, and assessment of the charges and their past behaviors in detention facilities. Once this has been completed, they will be provided with a housing assignment and clothing, bedding, and other necessities. Parents are permitted one visit within the first 24 hours after admittance, and the youth can make two phone calls after they arrive. Three nutritious meals are provided each day, as well as other basic needs such as medical and dental care, mental health services including counseling, anger management classes, life skills, school classes are provided each weekday including physical education, healthy choices, and more. Mail: Mail is permitted but it must be delivered via US Postal Service with a complete return address, and it must contain no contraband, not come from another facility, and it will be checked for contraband before being delivered. Phones: Youth are permitted to call their parents or guardians and to call their employer when they are admitted to the facility and will have access to phones to call parents or guardians only in the days following. Visitation: Visits are important for family reconciliation and preparing youth for after they are released, and visiting hours are provided each day except for Sunday. Weekday visiting hours are between 5pm and 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm on Saturday.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
