Weatherford Street, Fort Worth, TX 76196, across the street from an older jail called The Tarrant County Corrections Center. There are 450 inmate beds, including 96 medically-oriented beds, contained in 207,700 square feet of space.
Each cell is constructed from steel and concrete and includes a toilet, sink, a cast-concrete bed, a bed mat, a toilet and a shower. The inmates in Lon Evans Corrections Center are kept in complete isolation and have no interaction with fellow inmates. They are separated from jail guards by a steel door with a window that is open at all times. Inmates are kept in their individual cells for 23 hours and have one hour outside their cell to exercise. Incredibly, an inmate was still able to escape from this jail in 2020 by breaking a window with a fire extinguisher, but he was apprehended almost immediately.
