The Summit View Youth Center is a maximum security facility for juveniles who have been determined to require detention. It provides 48 beds and accepts male juveniles who are in high school and aged 14 to 19. It is located near the naval base and has been open since 2016. The Division of Child and Family Services is the operating body, and they work closely with the Clark County School District to ensure that licensed teachers attend the site to hold school classes Monday to Friday year round. Along with the mandated core classes, they offer option classes, remedial classes, special education programs, vocational programs to assist in employment outside of the facility, and even activities with other nearby schools and programs. The full staff provides a wide range of services and care for the needs of each of the residents throughout their stay, including nurses on staff, a psychologist, physicians, psychiatrist, and a dentist who are either onsite all the time or who are contracted to attend regularly. Programs include drug and alcohol abuse counseling, recovery programs, counseling, sex offender treatment, treatment planning, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Phones: Phone privileges are provided to those who are exhibiting good behavior and following the rules and structure in the facility. Postcards
The Summit View Youth Center allows inmates to receive pre-metered postcards like the type purchased from the post office. They may also allow certain photo postcards as long as they have not been tampered with or contain images that may be considered to be obscene or violent in nature. It is best to only use blue or black ink. Always include your name and return address.

Envelopes
The Summit View Youth Center also allows envelopes to be mailed to inmates. It is best to only use blue or black ink.

Newspapers
Newspapers may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Summit View Youth Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Summit View Youth Center standards will be disposed of. 
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
