Working closely with the Main Institution, Hampden County Pre-Release Center provides necessary service to the inmates who are facing release soon, and they are able to serve their last few months in a way that will better prepare them for life outside of incarceration. Due to the transitional purpose of the center, it is a minimum security facility and allows for those who are on work release or transitioning into a new job to leave for their work shift and then return.
All services are focused on helping to prepare for release and life after, including the transition programs, referrals to ongoing outside services, assistance in finding housing and employment, more freedom of movement around the building and grounds, and recreational opportunities that allow for improving social skills and interactions.
Operated by the local Sheriff’s Office, this is the only center of its kind in the county and holds both the male and female inmates at this stage in their incarceration.
Programs such as support groups, substance abuse treatments, education, parenting, and similar will also continue.

• Clothing must cover all private/sensitive body areas.
• The visitation schedule may be canceled or altered on holidays or for safety/security reasons.
