Originally built in the early 1990s, the jail's centrally located gym has been converted into classrooms and storage space. Plans are underway to begin to construct a new jail facility in 2024 or 2025, with a specific focus on adding classrooms to provide inmates with trade learning opportunities, aiming to reduce recidivism.
The complex is made up of the main jail, the annex and the work release center.

Attorney visitation is permitted from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., excluding designated lunch and dinner times. Attorneys must fax a list of the clients they intend to visit, along with their contact information, 24 hours in advance to prevent scheduling conflicts. Attorneys must present a Bar Card (Blue or White) and a valid State Driver's License upon arrival. They must sign the attorney visitation logbook before visiting their clients. Electronic devices such as cell phones, cameras, and computers are not allowed during visits unless approved by the Warden or Assistant Warden. Attorneys are prohibited from restricted areas and should not provide clients with items other than legal documents.

Newspapers
Local or national newspapers may also be mailed to the inmate as long as they are mailed directly from the newspaper publisher.
Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex standards will be disposed of. No more than three books may be shipped at any one time.
