The current authorized capacity of Clayton County Prison in Georgia is 258 inmates, with a double perimeter fence reinforced with razor wire and an electronic detection system. The prison also has a 25-bed Transition Center which has a feature video visitation using Securus. The county prison is where inmates are sent after sentencing, as long as it is not a long term sentence.  In that case they are sent to a larger prison that is run by the state of Georgia, one that may not be soclose to their home.

Visitation hours at Clayton County Prison & Correctional in Georgia are limited to four hours on weekends and holidays, the schedule of which can be found below.   • Each inmate may have up to 12 visitors on their list.
  • Members of your immediate family (parents, brothers, sisters, spouse, grandparents, children and step-children, sister’s husband, brother’s wife) upon request and after verification, will be placed on the inmate’s approved visitation list. Inmates with large families will be considered on an individual basis. Uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and in-laws are not considered to be immediate family, but may be put on the list with the submission of a significant other form.
  • Each inmate is allowed visitation up to four hours (each day), if overcrowding doesn’t exist and conditions permit.
  • First come, first served. 
  • First arrivals can stay a minimum of one hour, but will be asked to make room for others after an hour if more people come than there is room for.
  • Visitors arriving at the facility between 10:15 AM. and 11:00 AM will not be allowed to enter until after 11:00 AM.
  • Visitors 16+ need a valid government photo ID.
  • Dress appropriately and non-seductive or NO visit.
  • The only thing you can bring into the visit is no more than the combination of $20.00 in $1.00 bills, or coins for the vending machines.
