Located in Hampton, Georgia, the Martha K. Glaze Regional Youth Detention Center was previously the Clayton RYDC and serves the counties of Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Heard, and Spalding. It houses all short term juvenile offenders while they await their trial or sentencing, or while they are waiting to be transferred to another facility. Short sentences may be served at this location, but long sentences will be served at alternative facilities. During any length of detention all students must attend regular classes which are provided by licensed teachers and through the local schoolboard to ensure the curriculum matches that of the local schools. It houses juveniles in grades 8 through 11 and offers GED opportunities. Treatments are offered for a full range of medical and mental health needs including counseling, rehabilitation from substance abuse, financial literacy, life skills, and social skills. Each youth will receive a schedule that includes the programs and activities that will benefit them the most, as well as recreational time and time to communicate with their families. Phones: Phones are located in the housing units, and smartphones or tablets are provided for making both voice and video calls with those who are on the approved call list. The time and day that these calls will occur will be provided to each family after orientation. Visits: Both in person and remote video visits are available through the use of tablets and smartphones that are provided, and there will be days and times provided to each individual on the visitor list for when the calls or visits may occur.
