What is a surety bail bond?

A surety bail bond is the money pledged to guarantee a recent arrestee returns to court as required. This can be in the form of a promise from a third party based on their credit or the collateral they use such as real estate or jewelry.

The collateral used must be easy to liquidate and convert to cash. The collateral usually must be able to sell for 150% of the value (one and one half times) of the bail amount
