Wood County Juvenile Detention Information

Wood County Youth fall under the Youth Justice Intake Process if they have been referred by either their school for truancy and out of control behavior or by law enforcement for committing acts that would be considered a criminal offense for an adult. Referrals may only be made for runaways, uncontrollable behavior, truancy, and delinquency. A social worker is assigned upon referral, and they are then responsible for determining the next steps. Information gathering begins for the full intake process and with all of the gathered information from parents, guardians, schools, and the youth themselves, the case will be either deferred, if alternatives to detention will be successful, or if it needs to go through the court process. The recommendation for what course of action to take is made within 40 days, and will include counseling and release, create service plans and programs for them to attend, or if they will be sent to court where they may be sentenced to a term of detention. During any detention they will be provided with healthy meals, daily education services, social skill development, life skills classes, and programs for social activities and physical activities. Mail: Detainees are able to send and receive letters through the postal service, but it should be expected that it will be checked by staff for illegal contraband. Telephone: Phones are provided for all youth in the common areas of housing units where they can call their parents and guardians regularly. Visitation: At least one 30 minute visit is provided each week with approved visitors only, and they will be able to schedule and confirm appointments with the location.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Wood County Juvenile Detention?

There are two options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Choice 1 - Deposit Inmate Money Online

Wood County Juvenile Detention uses CommissaryDeposit.com to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Choice 2 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail

Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.

Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.

**Call 715.421.8730 first to ask Wood County Juvenile Detention if this option is still available.
