About the Shawano County Work Release Center

Within Shawano County the main jail is the Shawano County Jail, but there is also the 144-bed Shawano County Work Release Center

The Shawano County Work Release Center is within the same building as the Sheriff Department, as well as general population portion of the jail.

For questions or concerns about a specific inmate or programs the jail can be contacted by phone by calling 715-526-7950 and an online lookup is maintained to provide around the clock access to inmate status.

During 'work release' inmates are able to maintain their prior jobs and attend work each day then return to the jail at the end of their shift for their sentence.

Inmates are unable to have personal items delivered, other than medical items including glasses and prescriptions, but they are able to purchase items from the commissary if friends or family add money to the account which is accessed in the jail lobby at the kiosk or online.

Phones are provided in each of the housing units, and this allows inmates to make outgoing calls with the phones being activated in the morning after cleaning is completed and turned off at 10:30pm.

    Steps Inmate canteen Visitation:
    1. Go to www.inmatecanteen.com on a computer (not supported on mobile devices i.e. tablets, cell phones, etc)
    2. Log in, select your inmate, and select the Video Visit an Inmate option.
    3. You will be required to fill out a form, submit a driver's license picture and a picture of your face. Once submitted, Shawano County Work Release Center will either approve or deny it.
    4. Once approved you will be all set to video visit!
    NOTES: Make sure you are allowing flash player to run in google chrome by selecting the lock icon to left of the browser. Flash Player needs to be set to “allow”. Then you can refresh the page and it should be good to go. If flash player is being blocked you will not be able to take a picture or see any video during the visitation.
