Youth who are aged 10-17 and break the laws, commit acts that for an adult would be illegal, or who are a danger to themselves or others in the community will be the responsibility of the Youth Justice Services. Most will be referred to the program by law enforcement, however they may also be referred by other community members if they need protection services. Detention services are used to protect the community from youth who are a danger to members of the community, and they are provided with all care, security, and safety within any detention facility. Upon referral a screening is completed and then an assessment where a social worker will be assigned to the youth, and it will then be determined if there will be a closed case, supervision at home or in the secure center, or if there will be other steps taken. The Sauk County Juvenile Detention allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
