About the Geiger Corrections Center

Spokane County Detention Services operates two facilities, this the Geiger Corrections Center, and the Spokane County Jail. An average of over 700 inmates are housed in these facilities combined each day.

The Spokane County Geiger Corrections Center is located on Spotted Road but the mailing address is to a separate location where mail is checked for contraband, scanned, and delivered electronically to inmates.

This process stops contraband from making its’ way into the facility from the mail, and offers a way to quickly get all letters and photographs to the inmate in their own housing area.  Tablets or kiosks are located in the housing units for this purpose.

Medical and mental health care are both provided, along with meals and laundry, and in some conditions inmates are permitted to be married during their incarceration.

Geiger Corrections Center uses Securus Video Connect for Remote Inmate Video Visitation. 



Video Visitation allows 'approved' friends, family members, attorneys and clergy of an inmate to connect with them using their computer, Securus Video Visitation app, or ‘on-site’ kiosk. 

Steps:

What is the Cost of a Remote Video Visit?
Costs vary and are subject to change, but generally visits range from $5.00 to $15.00 for a 15 to 30 minute online or on-site video visit.

How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
The Securus system knows the times that Geiger Corrections Center inmates are available for remote video visits.
It will not allow you to schedule a visit with your inmate if they are not available or the video visitation kiosk(s) in the jail are booked already.
Once you schedule a visit with your inmate they will be notified of the date and time of the visit.

Important Tips:

Postcards are NOT allowed.

Envelopes
The Geiger Corrections Center allows envelopes to be mailed to inmates, however all letters will be photocopied in black & white and delivered to inmate. Originals will go in inmate's property. 

  • No photos may be sent through the US Mail. The ONLY photos that will be accepted will be those sent through 3rd party vendors, i.e. Shutterfly, Walmart, Costco, etc. all other photos will be rejected.
  • No Greeting Cards or Greeting Card envelopes.

Newspapers
Local or national newspapers may also be mailed to the inmate as long as they are mailed directly from the newspaper publisher.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Geiger Corrections Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Geiger Corrections Center standards will be disposed of. No more than three books may be shipped at any one time.
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
