In this way each can contribute to the safety and security of both inmates and the community.

Individual spaces are provided for those who require stricter security or who are required to be isolated for various reasons, and female and male inmates are housed separately, all based upon security needs.
The Mason County Jail is also responsible for the operation of alternatives to incarceration, including Electronic Home Monitoring that provides GPS tracking to detainees that are permitted to complete their sentence at home either completely or with a list of places they can go during certain hours including their job or school, as well as the CAM that provides monitoring for alcohol levels for those who are awaiting trial for alcohol based offences or who are sentenced to serve time at home rather than in a jail.
Day reporting has individuals check in on predetermined days and may be assigned to the work detail for these days.
Work Release is another alternative that allows offenders to serve their sentence while maintaining their outside jobs, by attending work each day and then returning every evening at the end of their work shift.
Those who are serving their sentence with incarceration will have medical care, all their meals, laundry services, mental health counseling, drug and alcohol classes, and access to communication with their friends and family outside of the facility.
