The Clallam County Juvenile Detention Facility is a secure facility that houses male and female young offenders when required by the court. Upon arrival there is an intake process that assess for medical needs, mental health needs, determine their education needs, and provide screenings that will lead to treatments and rehabilitation efforts. Meals are provided each day, along with snacks, clothing and laundry services, recreation both indoor and outdoor, counseling, and even religious services are available. An orientation is conducted after intake where each of the youth is provided with the rules, shown the facility, provided with rules and the schedule, and given other key information. The control center manages the doors and pathways throughout the facility and the monitors and cameras ensure that students are monitored around the clock and safety and security are the main focus of the staff. A behavioral levels system is used to encourage following rules, positive social interactions, and completing tasks. Privileges that are earned through this system include phone calls, visits, and recreational activities. Mail: Mail is permitted, both incoming and outgoing, but it will be checked for contraband, and will require a full address and return address to be accepted. Phones: Phones are available for youth to call their parents or guardians, as well as their legal representatives. Visitation: Only parents or guardians may visit youth at the center.
