About the Clallam County Corrections Facility

The Clallam County Corrections Facility was finished in 1980 and while designed for 72 inmates in Clallam County, it operates with a capacity of 120, including the special detention unit which was altered into a worker housing unit for inmates on the work crews. This unit was created to both lessen the pressure on the regular housing units as it neared capacity, while also giving back to the community by cleaning up the public spaces, maintaining landscaping, and road maintenance.

There are many partnerships with community groups and businesses to maintain the programs for the inmates, ensuring they have access to work opportunities, counseling, volunteer speakers, and other necessary services are also provided in medical care and mental health care.

Educational opportunities are also provided which allow inmates to earn their GED, to improve their basic education, and to access ongoing education throughout their incarceration.

During all hours and activities, including recreation time, cameras watch all areas of the building and officers make rounds of the cells multiple times a day to check on the health and safety of inmates, the security of the building, and any other concerns.

They are also able to make, but not receive phone calls, and these privileges have been shown, along with visits, to improve the mental health of inmates which leads to a safer jail for everyone.

Visits are allowed, for thirty minutes, with up to two visits each day. Days and times for visits are determined by the first letter of the inmates last name, with A to K being Saturdays onsite, and L to Z Sundays, both 8am-11am and 1pm-3pm, and remote visits are Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm for everyone and Saturday and Sunday 4pm to 10pm.

VISITATION RULES

  • Each inmate is allowed only one visit per day.
  • Proper attire is required. No low-cut blouses, tank tops, short skirts or dresses, tight shorts, hats or any other form of provocative dress will be allowed. Shirt and shoes must be worn.
  • All visitors must provide proper state or government issued photo identification (i.e. driver’s license, foreign id or passports) for inmate visitation.
  • Visitation is limited to two adults and two children only.
  • In-house video visitation is available at no cost. A video visit last 15 minutes, therefore visitors will be allowed two video visits per day. Visitors may only use this system on the inmates assigned visitation day, whenever the inmates have free time.
  • Off-site video visitation is available through http://secure.visitel.us for a fee. Off-site video visitation can be accessed from your home computer or cell phone and  is unlimited, however it will only be accessed during the inmates free time.

  • When an inmate gets the device they may send 5 free automated messages each day for the first three days of possession of the chirping device.  
  • These automated messages will inform the person the inmate Chirped who is sending the Chirps and the facility they are Chirping from.
  • It will then ask them to go to a direct link to the inmate's account on the Inmate Sales website.
  • The website will then instruct them to use a credit card to put money on the inmate's account.  

Cost of Chirping:  

  • Inmates will be charged a monthly service fee of $4.00.  Inbound and Outbound Chirps are $0.10 each.
  • If an inmate has available funds on their chirping device they will be able to chirp any cell phone and that chirp will appear to be a normal text. 
  • If you wish to stop receiving Chirps from an inmate, reply to the Chirp with STOP.
