Providing short term housing for newly detained or adjudicated juvenile offenders throughout the county of Montgomery. It is a safe and secure facility with a focus on creating an environment that is positive and supports the personal growth of the individuals. With 48 beds it accepts both males and females who are 10-17 and are alleged to have committed class B misdemeanors or more serious charges. With the seriousness of charges, it is maintained as a maximum security facility for the safety of the staff and the residents as well as the community. Those who are serving a sentence will do so at another facility, as this is a short term pre-adjudication location. Any who are determined to require detention until their court hearing or at their detention hearing, which occurs within 2 days of arrival, will be reassessed every 10 days. Other counties may also access the location and the services provided, with it offering space to around 20 counties that do not have their own individual juvenile detention centers. Phone: Each resident will have an approved phone list and only those on the list will be able to receive calls. Calls will be made on the approved day for that level and will be between 5:30pm and 8:30pm. Freshmen call on Mondays, Juniors Monday and Wednesday, and Seniors or Honor levels on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Visitation: Visiting days are determined by the first letter of the last name with A-L being Saturday and M-L Sunday, each day being between 8am and 6pm. Visits are one half hour long.

The Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
