INTERESTING FACTS about the Shelby County Jail: The Bartlett Jail was upgraded to a Type I from a Type II facility, allowing the detention of inmates longer than the 72 hours. The jail is located just north east of Memphis and the jail was upgraded to help ease the overcrowding issues that nearby Shelby County faces.
