About the Sevier County Jail

INTERESTING FACTS about the Sevier County Jail:  The Sevier County Jail opened in June, 1991, and after an expansion in 2002, the Sevier County Jail (Main) was ioncreased to a rated capacity of 272. This facility has an emergency response team that responds to emergencies within the facility, with the goal being to be able to diffuse situations without the use of lethal force. Sevier County also has an Annex that looks like a metal warehouse, which holds 356 additional inmates.

Indigent inmates are still allowed a minimum number of calls, messages, and commissary items per month.

Visitation hours for the Main Jail are 8-4 Monday-Friday, and 8-6 Monday-Friday at the Annex.

On-site visitation hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00AM - 4:00PM.

Remote Visitation, in the comfort of your own home is available for most facilities. Visitation hours may be dependent upon the sex of the person and, also dependent upon the section of the facility in which they are housed.

 In 2020, COVID stopped in person visitation in both Sevier County facilities, but have reinstated it.. Call 865-453-4668 to check the current status of in-person visitation during COVID outbreaks.

You must submit a picture and government photo ID for facility approval prior to visiting someone in our facility and there is a strict protocol that must be followed or privileges can be revoked.

If you are doing in person visitation, visitors are subject to search. Dress appropriately. If too much skin is showing, you may be refused visitation rights.

Mail can be received every day and is processed and passed to the inmates quickly, however the jail also uses a digital message service to help avoid contraband entering the facility.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Sevier County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
