The Greenville County Juvenile Detention Center houses all of the juveniles who are facing charges within the county and its communities. It is housed within the Greennville County Law Enforcement Complex and offers individual rooms for each resident with their own bed, desk, toilet, and sink. The dorms that accommodate the individual rooms offer space for eating, homework, writing letters, and social interaction with other students for card games or other activities. Upon arrival each child is processed, and they will be assessed for medical or mental health needs, receive an orientation on the facility and what to expect, and they will be asked what grade they are in so that anyone who stays over two weeks can be taught in accordance to what their school is currently learning. Programs are in place to ensure social programs provide opportunity for growth and to meet the social needs of each student and promote respectable behavior through life skills and improved social skills. The facility is safe, secure, and sanitary, with a focus on maintaining a positive environment. All incoming mail is processed and scanned for electronic delivery. Books
The Greenville County Juvenile Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Greenville County Juvenile Detention Center standards will be disposed of.
