About the Darlington County Prison Camp

Along with the regular detention center, Darlington County also has the Darlington County Prison Camp, reachable at 843-398-4210 that houses those who are approved for work release or work details during the last phases of their incarceration. The purpose of this program is to provide a change to work and remain busy and engaged as they serve the rest of their sentence, as well as to give back to the community with the tasks that they are performing, and they will have more freedom of movement than other inmates.

To determine if someone you know is in the facility you can use their first and last name to search online.

The Darlington County Prison Camp was built in the early 1930s and has been upgraded over the years, having 51 medium security beds for male inmates spread across the large section of land in separate buildings and surrounded by fencing and open land. Skills that the inmates already possess can assist in getting assigned jobs that allow them to keep those skills fresh, or they may learn new skills that are highly employable as well as maintain a work history during incarceration.

Each will gain life skills, employable skills, and gain discipline while enjoying the benefits to mental and physical health that are found by contributing and working within the community.

Both medical and mental health care are also provided, and there is access to visits and phone calls, which will be available around working hours and meals.

An account is created to provide access to phone calls almost any time, video visits, email, and messaging including photo messages. This program allows for increased flexibility in visiting and phone calls and allows inmates to work these forms of contact around their schedule.
