Each inmate arrives at the Bucks County Correctional Facility upon their arrest and they are booked through that location, classified into their security and housing needs, and then transported to the facility at which they will stay for the remainder of their incarceration.

The current building was opened in June of 1985 and has remained functioning since. It has a full capacity of 712 bunks within a direct supervision program. This consists of 10 modular units that have security staff and officers within the module to supervise the activity and maintain health and safety.
Over a year the facility will process on average 7432 inmates with an average of 727 being in the jail each day.
To provide for the needs of inmates there are case managers to assist with each sentenced offender, counselling, educational classes, a library, religious programming, and access to medical and mental health care. Each inmate is provided with a tablet that can be used for many purposes, including video calls with family and friends.
In person visits are first come first served and permitted only during the posted visiting hours. At the main facility visits are permitted on Saturdays beginning at 8am and extending to 8:45pm with the specific time depending upon their location within the facility. There are half an hour blocks for each visit.
When someone is arrested, they are taken to Bucks County Correctional Facility for booking. This process involves verifying identity, assessing charges, and determining whether the person will be released on bail or detained.
