Yamhill County Juvenile Detention Center Information

Yamhill County Juvenile Division is responsible for probation, diversion, and detention services for the county and for surrounding communities. They offer a full service facility that provides all necessities including healthy meals, laundry services for clothing and bedding that are both provided by the facility, education that occurs in tandem with the local public schools, treatment for any medical concerns, mental health needs, and addictions that may be present. Both group and individual counseling is provided, with some family counseling if it is required. Recreational time is provided, along with libraries for both educational purposes and for recreational reading, and there are both indoor and outdoor recreational spaces. Physical education is included with the educational services, and they will also learn about self-care, routines, and creating schedules by following the schedules throughout each day. Strict routines are in place, and youth are responsible for completing their tasks and homework on time and being in the correct location for their next scheduled activity. Responsibility and accountability will develop through the practices and programs, and each will develop improved social skills while also learning new life skills that will better prepare them for their return to their community. Mail: Residents may send and receive mail through the postal service and will be permitted to keep some letters or pictures with them. Mail may be checked for contraband, and any illegal items will be removed. Phones: Phones are accessible, and youth are encouraged to call their parents or guardians. Visitation: Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit, accept phone calls, and communicate via mail to maintain family relationships and offer support to the youth.
