About the Douglas County Jail

The Douglas County Jail is operated around the clock by a full time staff and overseen by the Douglas County Sheriff. Although the full capacity is 283 beds, due to the separation of male and female inmates, inmates who are involved in the same cases, and other restrictions, the jail may be full and unable to admit new arrests while still having empty beds. It is located at 1036 SE Douglas Ave. Roseburg, OR 97470, and you can reach the jail any time of day or night by calling 541-440-4450.

The Douglas County Jail has an average of 6,552 bookings each year, and is the main booking facility for both Roseburg, Oregon and the surrounding cities and towns in the county, such as Canyonville, Drain, Elkton, Glendale, Myrtle Creek, Oakland, Reedsport, Riddle, Sutherlin, Winston and Yoncalla.

Friends and family may find if someone they know is being held at this facility by calling or checking the online inmate roster on the website, To visit an inmate, the video kiosks on the third floor of the Justice Building are free to use. Visiting hours are in place from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm each weekday except weekends. Video visitation is provided by CIDNET.net and can also be accessed from home via the website. All visitors must be preapproved by the administration of the jail before they will be allowed to visit and will need a valid picture ID to confirm identity. Each visitor will have a record check to ensure there are no outstanding warrants in place, and that they are not on probation or parole.

Letters may also be received through the USA postal service, while packages are not permitted. Subscriptions for newspapers and any books that are sent must be directly from the publisher to the jail. Located in the 3rd floor lobby next to the video visitation kiosk is the Keefe Kiosk that allows for deposits of money to the account of the inmate for commissary and other purposes. They can be paid via cash, debit, or credit cards and are available weekdays from 8am to 5 pm. Money may also be deposited online access through the corrections department website.

Mail can be received every day and is processed and passed to the inmates quickly. Friends and family of inmates in the Douglas County Jail can arrange to visit inmates by video, both at the jail and remotely from home. Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Douglas County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Douglas County Jail standards will be disposed of.
