Upon admission to the Tulsa County Juvenile Detention Center the juvenile will be provide with a shower, hygiene items and clothing, an opportunity to make two phone calls, and a medical assessment to ensure that any necessary treatment is provided quickly and effectively, with ongoing care being planned at that time for any ongoing health needs and prescription medication. Residents are closely supervised, and a strict schedule and expectations are provided for the safety and security of the students and the staff. Individual rooms are provided for sleeping, with common areas, recreational spaces, classrooms, and other areas being provided for use during the day. Social interactions are encouraged to assist in the development of positive social skills, leisure and recreation time is provided each day, and redirection or coaching are the preferred methods of discipline with room confinement being used only when safety of themselves or others is a concern. A library provides magazines, books, and periodicals. Religious services are provided throughout the week for those who choose to attend. Mail: Letters that are received will be checked for contraband before final delivery, and two postage stamps are provided each week for letters, with additional postage being permitted when supplied by the family. Visitation: Only parents, guardians, clergy, and attorneys are permitted to visit and visiting hours are provided for each. Clergy and attorneys may attend visits weekdays between 9am and 11:30am or 1pm to 4:30pm. Parents or guardians have visiting hours Wednesday evenings between 6 and 7pm or weekends between 1:30 and 2:30pm.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Tulsa County Juvenile allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Tulsa County Juvenile standards will be disposed of.
