Rather than focusing on strictly detention and punishment, the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center focuses on improving the community and helping youth to be responsible and productive within their community. It offers 30 beds that are used for both male and female offenders when they are awaiting court dates or have been sentenced. The juvenile court attempts to use alternative methods of correction before considering detention in an attempt to provide the best outcome for the youth and for the community. Those who are considered to be a risk of hurting themselves or others will be detained at this facility. Medina City Schools has a set calendar and that is also followed within the facility and only qualified teachers are used. The staff employ a levels system that rewards positive choices and good behavior, along with anger management and other programs to help improve social and life skills. Location: 655 Independence Drive, Medina, Ohio 44256 Visiting Hours: Sunday9:30am – 10:30a & 10:30a – 11:30am Tuesday6:00pm – 7:00p & 7:00p – 8:00pm Wednesday.. 3:00pm – 4:00p & 4:00p – 5:00pm Immediate family only are permitted to visit, and they must be approved in advance.
