The juvenile system is focused not on punishing the youth who are being detained but rather to improve their skills and abilities to improve their interactions with others and with the law in the future. Not all are detained within the Juvenile Detention Center but can be housed at home with other forms of rehabilitation, or be housed in the detention center if they are unsafe at home or creating a threat to the safety of others in the home. The goal of the program is to encourage juveniles to be responsible in their decision making and when managing the decisions that they have already made. Officers and other staff are tasked with the safety, welfare, education, and care of each of the youth who are in their custody. To provide the best results programs are in place to teach new coping skills, maintain an education, and to help maintain a sense of community and family. Visits are encouraged and visiting hours are offered on most days. Community support is key to the success of this center and many people within the community are involved in the day to day operation and support of the juveniles such as teachers, medical staff, counselors, and more. Location: Juvenile Justice Center, 9300 Quincy Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, 44I06 Phones: Inmates are permitted to call home during the days and hours that have been approved only, and income calls are not permitted. Visitation: Visits occur on different days and times depending upon the housing location of the inmate, and only immediate family are permitted to visit. Visiting hours will always be between 8:30am and 6:30pm on varying days, it is necessary to call the facility to book visits.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
