The Ashland County Juvenile Detention Center is housed in a converted facility that was at one time used to house mentally ill patients. To prepare juveniles for the future there are many opportunities provided within the juvenile detention center. Work assignments, opportunities to work with government agencies, transitional programming before release, religious services, and health services that included physical, dental, and mental health treatments. Rehabilitation classes are available for those fighting addiction or drug and alcohol use. Detainees can be located through the website or by calling the center for those who do not have internet access. Packages can be sent along with letters, but anything being sent into the jail must be approved before it is given to them. There are also several ways to send money to inmates including money orders, cash, and even cheque. Phone calls are limited to 15 minute blocks and can occur only during daytime hours.
