About the Ashland County Jail

As the needs of Ashland County grew, the modern modular jail, Ashland County Jail was built with a larger capacity and is more technologically advanced than prior locations. This jail opened in February of 2001 and offers the most advanced tools for detainees and employee safety and security. It can hold 127 inmates and 34 staff at one time, while the average is 110 people.

Inmates of Ashland County who are housed at the Ashland County Jail are arrested on either a felony or a misdemeanor, and will be held until they have their first court date or if they are serving a short sentence provided by the court.

As a full service jail there are many programs offered including educational services, parenting classes, addictions counselling, laundry, library, counseling, and commissary. To add to the account of an inmate, money can be provided to the desk in the lobby or through online deposit.

Phone accounts can also be supported with a prepaid account, or a debit phone account can be created online. Understanding the rules completely are the responsibility of both you and your inmate. Not knowing the rules will NOT be accepted as an excuse if you make a mistake and violate them. Disobeying them could result in being banned from have future visits.
•    Any inmate or visitor whose behavior is disruptive during a visit may have his/her visiting privileges suspended/terminated.
•    All visits are subject to monitoring and recording.
•    All visits must be scheduled 6 hours prior to the appointment or up to 13 days in advance.
•    You must check-in 15 minutes prior to the scheduled visit.
•    Valid picture identification (e.g., driver's license, State I.D., or Military I.D. with picture) is required of all visitors, with the exception of children under the age of 17.  
•    Visitors under the age of 17 must be accompanied and supervised by an authorized adult visitor.
•    Visitors who 'arrive' after the scheduled start time may not be allowed to visit.
•    Clothing must cover all private/sensitive body areas.
•    The visitation schedule may be canceled or altered on holidays or for safety/security reasons.
•    Ashland County Jail can disconnect, deny, change, or cancel a visit at any time.
•    Internet connectivity issues during offsite visits will NOT be refunded.

How Can I Communicate with an Inmate in the Ashland County Jail using an Online Messaging Service?

Ashland County Jail allows Secure Messaging using a third-party service call Access Corrections.

They are the same company that facilitate Secure Deposits and Securepaks, so if you are already registered with them, then you are already approved to send Secure Messages to your inmate.

Register/Log in here.

After Registering/Logging In:

1.     You choose Ashland County Jail.
2.    You Search for your inmate by typing in his last name. You can further narrow your search by adding his first name and/or Inmate ID.
3.    You add a credit or debit card.
4.    You buy a message plan (plans and prices vary), or buy credits. One credit costs $0.01.
5.    You select the option for your inmate to be able use the credits which you purchase, to message back to you... Or not.
6.    Ashland County Jail charges a fee for each message sent or received.

Important Things to Know

 - Access Corrections has an iphone app and an android app for using their services.
 - ALL of your correspondence will be monitored by the jail. 
 - Do NOT write anything you wouldn’t want repeated in court.
