Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Information

Juveniles who are remanded by the Family Court in Middlesex County, NJ, will be detained at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center. It is a secure facility that maintains security for the juveniles as well as safety for the residents, staff, and any visitors. The staff and contractors are trusted with the full care for all the residents and will not only meet their basic needs, but also provide programs that assist in their preparation for the future and to reduce recidivism. It is operated by the Office of Adult Corrections and Youth Services and is overseen by Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners. In addition to housing juveniles who are remanded from the court or to assure they attend their court date, but they also have contracts with Somerset County, Monmouth Counter, and Mercer County to also house their juveniles. All holds are short term only and offer wide based services that will meet the needs of a range of juveniles and their individual needs. It offers consistency, security, safety, education, medical and dental care, mental health care, meals, and recreation as well as programs for life and social skills. Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Middlesex County Juvenile Detention allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
