Lancaster County Youth Services Center This Youth Services Center provides temporary detention for juveniles in the county and surrounding areas. In total the center serves 27 counties within Nebraska as well as the state department of health and human services. Juveniles are only admitted to the facility if they are admitted by local law enforcement, if they are being processed through the juvenile justice system, or if they are adjudicated and required to remain in the facility for a set period of time based upon the offenses committed. Only those who are found guilty will be kept in the location beyond their court date. For secure detention, there is one program within the center that provides secure detention for as many as 60 juveniles, both male and female, who are under the age of 19 but who where sentenced at 18 or younger. During any length of detention youth will attend daily classes, engage in recreational activities both group and individual, learn new life skills and develop better social skills, improve decision making, and many other opportunities. Lancaster County Youth Services Center uses the services of NCIC for inmate phone calling. It is called a ‘friends & family account”.

In order to receive phone calls from your inmate, you need to do the following:

  • Register here, or by phone 800-943-2189
  • Choose Nebraska.
  • Choose Lancaster County Youth Services Center
  • Select your Inmate.
  • Enter the phone number your Inmate will be calling.
  • Fund your Account. ($10-$100 at a time)

NOTE:
1.   You cannot receive any calls to your phone number from your inmate until both you and your phone number are registered.
2.  When you do receive a call, the number you will view on your phone from the incoming call is: 800-943-2189.
3.  When allowed by Lancaster County Youth Services Center, families can also leave secure voicemails for inmates to listen to.

Newspapers
Newspapers may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Lancaster County Youth Services Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Lancaster County Youth Services Center standards will be disposed of. 
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
