The Platte County Detention Center adjoins the county courthouse and has been built in stages, adding additions when needed. As you approach the facility from the outside, it almost appears a castle with high walls and a moat around it.

Platte County Detention Center contracts almost exclusively with one company, Inmate Canteen, to provide everything from phone cards, to text messaging, to sending money and snacks, to providing a vehicle for remote video visitation.

The only exceptions would be that they use Securus for their inmate phone calling service, and outside vendors for their e-cigarette servive.
