Washington County Juvenile Detention Center Information

Washington County has a short term Juvenile Holding Facility that is located within the Sheriff’s Office Jail. It has 5 beds and can house juveniles for up to 8 days only, at which time they are transferred or released. Licensed by the MN Department of Corrections, all minimum standards are met or exceeded, and both male and female juveniles may be housed at the facility if they have been charged with a delinquent offense, for a short period of time, while they await their court detention hearing within 24 hours of their arrival. The 8 days that they are permitted to stay does not include non-business days such as weekends and holidays, nor the day that the arrest and their arrival occur. Any juvenile who is arrested for a status offense will not be held at this location unless there are records of prior incidents and detention, this includes runaway or alcohol offenses. Juveniles who are a danger to themselves, or who are a safety risk to the community, will be held, along with those who may be in a dangerous situation and require safe housing in an emergency. Within the facility the juvenile detainees remain separated from the adult detainees for their own safety and security. Mail: Law Enforcement Center 15015 62nd Street North Stillwater, MN 55082 Any mail that is delivered must be through the post office, and it may be checked for contraband before delivery. Due to the short stay at this temporary location, youth may not be in residence long enough to receive mail. Phones: There are phones available in the facility for youth to contact their legal representative, parents, or guardians. Visitation: Juveniles who are in the facility long enough for the family to schedule a visit may have parents or guardians visit, as arranged directly with the staff at the facility.
