About the Washington County Jail

The Washington County Jail in Minnesota has a capacity of 228 inmates. The phone number for the Jail Division is 651-430-7900, and the address is 15015 62nd St. N., Stillwater, MN 55082.

The jail is part of  a large Government Center complex that houses the Sheriff's Office and many of the county offices. It is modern in design and built with an attractive brick exterior. The jail portion is around back and is designed with small exterior windows for the inmate to look out of onto a field.

The Washington County Jail in Minnesota has specific visitation hours. The visitation hours are as follows: Monday, Saturday, Sunday and Friday from 6pm to 10pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 10:30am and 6pm to 10pm. It is important to note that there are no visitation hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.   • You must be on an inmate’s visiting list to visit. You have to get this info from the inmate as the jail won't tell you.
  • Lockers free of charge, are available in the jail lobby for outer clothing, cell phones, purses, monies, keys etc.
  • Purses, Food, cell phones, Baby strollers, cribs, and carriers are not allowed in the jail.
  • Only minors on the visiting list that are the inmate’s biological, adopted, foster, guardian and step children may visit when accompanied by an adult on the visiting list.
  • Appropriate clothing must be worn. Clothing that is too revealing will disallow your visit.
  • You can't visit if you've been incarcerated in this jail in the past 60 days.
  • There are special visiting times for visiting with children that have priority over other visitors: 
    Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am to 10:30am, and 6:00pm to 10:00pm.

Newspapers
Newspapers may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Washington County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Washington County Jail standards will be disposed of. 
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
