The 200,000 square foot jail, first occupied in 2006, is located at 1170 Michigan Road in Port Huron, MI, 48060. The contact number for the jail is 810-987-1700. It is only one of only four institutions in the state that meet the criteria to house ICE detainees.
The St. Clair County Jail covers eight acres of a 23-acre site a few miles off of I-94. It also houses up to 70 juveniles, and replaced the old St. Clair County Jail in Port Huron and the Juvenile Detention Center in Fort Gratiot. The building also contains the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, as well as a much needed mental and physical health assessment center.

How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?

Newspapers
Newspapers may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Before receiving a new daily newspaper, the inmate shall pass out his old papers to be deposed of.
Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The St. Clair County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. NO AMAZON BOOKS ALLOWED. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the St. Clair County Jail standards will be disposed of.
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
Inmates will be permitted to accumulate only four (4) books and publications (magazines) in their cell at a given time.
