About the Saginaw County Jail

The Saginaw County Jail in Michigan, located at 211 South Harrison Street in Saginaw, has a capacity of 513 inmates. You can reach the jail 24 hours a day by calling 989-790-5200, and if you want information about an inmate you can get it over the phone, or you can use the Inmate Search & Jail Roster tool. You can use the online roster for looking at mugshots, viewing criminal charges, or finding out personal information about inmates in custody.

In 2020, construction was finished on the new 5-story Saginaw County Jail, replacing the old detention center that was built in 1971, and was built to house only 218 inmates. For years, it was in a serious overcrowding situation, even with various expansions and renovations. But in 2017 the county finally broke down and agreed to spend $38.5 to build this modern, multi-story jail, understanding that with interest the total will come to over $38 million. The location is ideal because it is right across the street from the courthouse, allowing inmates who have to appear in court to use an underground tunnel, rather than being transported by vehicles. this saves money and time, not to mention security concerns. The jail is staffed by only 43 correctional officers, down 20% from the previous jail, even though it is larger.

The Saginaw County Jail uses Inmate Sales, a third party inmate video visitation, phone and texting company to assist inmate with communication with loved ones. Below this section you will find detailed information on how to register and schedule communication with your inmate, bail them out, send them money and help them buy snacks and hygiene products at their commissary.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Saginaw County Jail?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use an Express Account self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Saginaw County Jail uses Express Account to process all online deposits to an inmate's account.

The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail

Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.

Call the Saginaw County Jail first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.

Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.

To do this you will need the inmate's offender # (inmate ID #) and full legal name.

By creating an account with Express Account you can send money:
