It provides many of the same programs and services as similar facilities, however 354-bed Franklin County Jail & House of Correction offers some that others do not.
There is a 360 hour treatment program for those who are overcoming trauma or disorders, addressing substance abuse or other mental health concerns. It is also one of very few detention facilities that provide chemical or medication treatments for addictions and other issues. These programs have been seen to both reduce recidivism and to save the lives of some of those who are able to walk away from their addictions.
Other programs are in place to support smooth reentry to society, job hunting and finding housing, mindful therapies, education for GED and literacy as well as vocational training for employment opportunities, support programs for families of the incarcerated, and support for reentry after they are released.
Another way in which mental health is supported, and therefore recidivism and incidents in the facility reduced, is through contact with friends and family who are outside of the facility.
People outside of incarceration can support an inmate by adding money to their commissary account, and an account can be created and this will permit inmates to make outgoing calls. Visits are also created online where you will be able to allow inmates to begin a visit any time they are available, and you will also see the options for sending messages.
