This particular location, the Ash Street Jail and Regional Lock-Up is operated by the Sheriff’s Office and houses over 200 inmates while they are awaiting their trial. It does not house sentenced inmates, with those who are serving a sentence being transferred to alternative locations that meet their security level needs and services.
Some workers are present who are sentenced inmates, with about 12 of these inmates being housed at this location to help with the work duties in the building and tasks to assist in cleanliness and maintenance while gaining skills that can lead to employment after incarceration.
