⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessStanding regally in red brick right off the water, the 325-bed Caroline County Detention Center is located with the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office and houses all of the locally arrested offenders, whether they are arrested on misdemeanors or felonies, for the time before their trail and a sentence up to 18 months in length.
The building is located on Gay Street, directly across from First Street, in Denton, Maryland.
Staff can be contacted with any questions or concerns by calling 410-479-2517 and to access the roster of inmates with bail and their updated status there is an online portal.
During the first week after their incarceration inmates are able to have items dropped off including white undershirts and underpants, white bras with no underwire, and white socks, as well as approved medication. Other items are purchased through the commissary with money from the inmate account.

Meals, laundry, medical care, mental health care, recreational activities, education opportunities, work tasks for qualified inmates, and other programs are all provided to offer the inmates the tools they need after incarceration to create a successful reintegration into their community.

Visits are also available and the length of visit and how many are permitted depends upon the situation of each individual inmate with male inmates having visits for last name A-G Saturday 9am-11:30am, H-Z Saturday 2pm-4:30pm, then A-G Sunday 2pm-4:30pm, and H-Z Sunday 9am-11:30am and female inmates have visits Saturday and Sunday 6:30pm-8pm.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Caroline County Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
