About the Boyd County Detention Center

Consisting of two sections, the 206 bed Boyd County Detention Center is the detention location for all pre-trial and sentenced inmates from Boyd County, both misdemeanor and felony charges. The updated and expanded building uses advanced security measures and technology to provide both safety and security as well as efficiency for staff and inmates.

Access to medical care is provided around the clock, and both dental and mental health services are provided. Clothing is provided to inmates who are incarcerated and those who are indigent will be provided with hygiene needs and medical care free of any cost to them, as well as writing supplies to maintain communication with their friends or family.

The Boyd County Detention Center can be reached by phone for questions regarding the presence of an inmate and their bail or visiting times at 606-739-4224, and an online database of inmates is maintained.

Programs that are conducted onsite include community work program allowing inmates to complete tasks that support their community, home incarceration provides tracking devices for sentences to be served at home, religious programs, and employment skills training.  

Commissary purchases are one of the ways in which inmates are able to access additional clothing, hygiene, and food items, and this account can be added to through online services.
