About the Bremer County Jail

Located with the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office in the Law Enforcement Center, the 79-bed Bremer County Jail houses both misdemeanor and felony inmates during their pretrial period as well as for a short, less than a year, sentence. It is a brick and white building that provides accessible entrances, indoor and outdoor recreation, and all law enforcement organizations within the same building.

The jail currently houses up to 79 offenders, and each will receive an assessment to determine housing, medical care, and mental health needs, along with any special dietary needs for the meals that are provided.

An online list is maintained for easy access to who is incarcerated and their status and staff are able to respond to concerns and answer procedure questions by calling 319-352-5400.

Money may be added to the account of an inmate to support their purchases and fees through mail with a money order or provided to the desk in the lobby during visits.
