The program allows them to leave the facility during the day to work, to work on crews for the county or the Department of Corrections, and provides additional freedoms and benefits to help lower the chances of over crowding in the local jails and detention centers. Along with work, residents of Duvall Residential Center are able to leave for school and for medical appointments or needed medical attention, as well as having the ability to earn a pass to visit family in the community or for special circumstances.
Residents are allowed to have 5 full changes of clothing, a pair of shoes for work and one for leisure as well as one pair of shower shoes, a radio with headphones, a bible, 2 paperback books, 2 magazines, a wallet and wedding ring, and supplies for letter writing. Programs that are in place include substance abuse treatment, AA, parenting, conflict resolution, thinking for a change, adult education referrals and support, and reintegration events for both family and the community.
Mail: All mail is checked for contraband and then released to the resident.
Phones: Phones are available when residents are within the facility in the common areas or by the use of the tablet program. They are unable to accept incoming calls, and there are no set phone hours in place.
Visitation: 2 visits are permitted each Sunday, with each visit being one hour long. Each visit will occur during the approved hours of 9:30am-10:30am and 1:30pm-2:30pm. To be permitted to visit each person they must be on the list that the inmate has provided to the staff in advance.
After an arrest, individuals are taken to Duvall Residential Center for the booking process, where their identity is confirmed, charges are reviewed, and decisions are made about whether they will be released on bail or detained.
