Within each building is an independent facility with administration offices, intake, programs, housing units, and services provided, though they are built directly adjacent and appear to be one large building all together.
Each of the housing units consists of single or double cells, with individuals alone or with one other person, and the security needs of the unit determine which of the cell layouts will be used.
There are 16 to 48 cells in each unit, and this results in up to 96 beds in each, each unit also has a common area and multipurpose room, a television, and is able to access outdoor recreation areas.
Along with medical care and mental health support, there are several other services and educational opportunities provided throughout Washington DC Correctional Treatment Facility and they accept inquiries to the main office at 202-523-7060 for family of residents.
Upon intake each resident will receive an assessment to provide for all medical care, classify them into a housing unit and appropriate security measures, and they will be assigned to a case manager that will assist them in accessing the programs that will best suit their needs.

Visits may be booked online or by calling the facility at 202-523-7060 and will take place at the visitation center that serves both local facilities between 11am and 10pm any day from Wednesday through Sunday for 45 minutes each visit, and up to two visits a week are available for each resident.
The Correctional Treatment Facility (CTF) in Washington DC is operated by the District of Columbia Department of Corrections and is located at 1901 E St. SE.
