About the Hazel D. Plant Women's Treatment Facility

Having opened in 2005, the Hazel D. Plant Women's Treatment Facility provides a safe and secured space for women who are in the Road to Recovery program with the Department of Corrections.

It can be reached at 302-777-6800 for any inquiries about the program or the work program that is present.

This program has three different lengths and intensities for a personalized program that will assist each individual who is assigned to it. Residents may be present and in the program for as few as 4-6 months, for 6-9 months, or as long as 9-12 months, working with an assigned case manager to determine their needs and what services and treatments will work best for them.

In addition to the basic Road to Recovery modules, there are also options for Trauma, Co-Occurring Disorders, Healthy Relationships, and others. Benchmarks are in place for each step to ensure that residents are meeting their goals before release.

Though substance abuse treatment is the main focus of Hazel D. Plant Women's Treatment Facility, they also provide the necessary basic care and services, and use a work program to help inmates earn and income and gain skills while they are incarcerated by doing work for the facility. Work tasks may include laundry, housekeeping or janitorial, food services, operating the telephones, and groundskeeping.
