There are seven housing pods, of which two of the pods are direct supervision with officers directly inside the pods to monitor security and safety, to respond to incidents as or before they happen, and to form working relationships with the inmates while showing positive social interactions.
The inmates are offenders arrested in Garfield County that have recently been arrested for a felony or misdemeanor, are awaiting trial, or have been found guilty for their crime(s) and have been sentenced to one year or less.
Inmates may be detainees of a few different law enforcement groups in this location including the US Department of Justice, National Institute of Corrections, and Objective Jail Classification Point System. Each inmate will be assigned to a security level and a housing unit based upon their current charges, past charges, and any history of behavior during detention to ensure they are placed in the correct housing area for the best change of successful rehabilitation and lower recidivism. Classification of inmates is assessed every 30 days to ensure they are still in the best location in the building.
