It is surrounded by fencing that encompasses the outdoor recreational spaces and provides additional security for keeping the community and inmates safe. Efforts have been made to create an environmentally friendly operation at this location, and it has solar fields, a water reclamation system, recycling of food, and it has been landscaped to require less water and to be resistant to the effects of a drought with plants that require less water and less frequently than other plants.
Housing is in a campus style, allowing some to house together in larger spaces, with individual cells as well for when they are needed. It also has a large kitchen with a full bakery, laundry department for all of the clothing and bedding for inmates in all of the locations including Todd Road, Pret-Trial Detention, the East County Jail, and the Work Furlough.
