About the Santa Barbara County Main Jail

With 640 beds, the Santa Barbara County Main Jail provides housing for both male and female inmates who have been sentenced or who are waiting to be sentenced. The other jail in Santa Barbara County is called the Northern Branch Jail.

They are housed within several housing units; to locate a loved one the facility can be contacted at 805-681-4260 where they are also able to provide information on bail and other concerns.

Inmates will have access to several programs to aid in their rehabilitation that range from basic education and GED classes to vocational training to provide them with employable skills upon release.

Medical care is provided both in the medical area and offsite if needed, with mental health support being provided through each term of incarceration.

It provides minimum to maximum security so each of the inmates will receive the safest housing for them. Security is based upon a direct supervision model so officers are in the housing units with the inmates, which has been shown to improve safety and security, improve response rates, and offers social interactions and relationship building.

Prepaid calls (Direct Calls)
